About
PPNG:
We are parents, and
people from all walks of life that believe the our children
are our future. Nothing is more important than insuring
that our children are properly cared for.
As parents, we feel
that it is our responsibility to insure that our children
have every opportunity to obtain the best possible education.
A major part of the education process is to instill in our
children proper nutritional habits and to ensure that they
receive the proper nutrition from our public schools.
The purpose of PPNG
(Parents Preferred Nutritional Guidelines) is to promote
the premise that parents and their family physicians know
the nutritional needs of their children better than anyone
else. That parents need to have more input into the type
of food and meals that are served in our public schools
and a medium to express their views and concerns when public
officials do not address their concerns.
The PPNG web site was
designed to assist parents with information concerning the
food being served our children in the public school system
and what parents can do to change the system if they feel
change is necessary.

About
PPNG :
PPNG was started
as a grass roots movement after questioning the practice
of serving Pot Tarts and other high sugar foods in the school
breakfast program. Our inquiry to school officials, both
state and local, ended in frustration with no definitive
answer and with state officials stating that no changes
would be made in the school breakfast program.
Understanding the premise
that bureaucrats and elected officials tend to listen when
a group of voters join together, PPNG was formed.
If you are a parent,
grandparent, or concerned citizen, and you are concerned
about the types of foods being served our children in public
schools or the issue of allowing vending machines that sell
junk food in our schools, we invite you to join us. Allow
your voice to be heard by joining with other parents and
people through out the state that share your opinions and
are willing to work to have your voice heard. You can make
a difference in the type of food your child receives at
school.
